Traveling gives us the opportunity not only to spend a holiday in an original place, but above all to learn more about people, culture and history, which broadens our horizons. After each trip, we come back with a head full of memories and new knowledge that often changes our perception of the world. Egypt belongs to countries that hide treasures of a civilization that is many thousands of years old. All lovers of ancient secrets will be simply delighted with the possibility of going back in time, watching extraordinary monuments with their own eyes! What is worth seeing in the first place?
What do we all associate with the Nile Valley? Of course, with large pyramids that always seemed distant and unreachable, as if somewhere at the end of the world. To make your dream come true and see it with your own eyes, you must go to Giza. There are pyramids built in the 25th century BC belonging to the seven wonders of the ancient world. These are the oldest buildings of this type, which only have survived to the present time! Visiting the tombs of the pharaohs will certainly be an unusual and unforgettable experience - completely different from resting on a sandy beach. In Giza we will meet the huge pyramid of Cheops and Chefren, as well as a bit smaller: Mykerinos and other interesting objects. Just hire a guide and set off on an amazing journey right in the center of history!
Staying in the same town, you cannot miss another important monument, which is the Great Sphinx, i.e. a giant statue of a lying lion with a human head - it was carved out of one rock block and, according to archaeologists, it probably depicts Pharaoh Chefren. The monumental sculpture is 20 m long and 73 m long - it is considered one of the oldest buildings of this type in the world. A characteristic feature of the Sphinx of Giza, which we will immediately notice, is the lack of a nose - all thanks to the Islamic dervish who considers the Egyptian statue to be a pagan god. Over the centuries of its existence, the sculpture has been covered with sand many times. It was excavated and renovated only in 1925.
Another world-famous monument that is located in Abu Simbel is a beautiful building built by the largest Egyptian pharaoh Ramses II in honor of the sun gods. At the entrance to the temple there are four majestic sculptures, 20 meters in size, depicting the family of Ramses - mother, wife and children, which definitely impresses visitors. In the interior we will see unusual carvings with the image of the ruler and richly decorated reliefs of other gods.
