The Tree of Knowledge” sculpture in bronze at the Oro Valley Public Library (Oro Valley, Arizona).Image credit: Oro Valley Public

We come through the portal of light

A glorious garden, the birthplace of life

Gently we are led by the dove’s wing

Into the forest where the birds sing

We stop at the base of a great tree

Its rings are exposed for all to see

We begin to count, through the centuries

We are stricken by the tree’s history

It seems this tree has no beginning

It is the true definition of infinity

The rings of the tree, perfect circles they are

One ring in the next, countless as the stars

The tree of history. The tree of  our present

The tree of the future. An effervescent presence

The tree of knowledge. We gather at her roots

We listen as she speaks great wisdom and truth

A place to call home. The origin of birth.

Tis Eden. The home of oil and Myrrh

The place we were born and now have returned

The original circle, the root of all light

Souls are returning, Spirits in flight

Coming forth, one by one. Footprints of life, lead by the sun

Upon the great ark, we come as one

Another circle is leading us home

Another ring the tree has grown

Always “I Am” and always “to be”

The true definition of infinity

No beginning with no end

The secret of life is to transcend
