The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given a proposed schedule of general elections 2013 to the government and May 8-9 have been suggested as the dates for polling.
According to Director General (DG) ECP Sher Afgan, the government has been informed that the electoral schedule should be issued before March 21 following the dissolution of assemblies on March 16.
President has the authority to announce the final date of election. However, the commission handed over the proposed election schedule to federal law minister Farooq Naik during their meeting with government.
DG ECP said that the nomination forms should be submitted to the commission within six days after the issuance of schedule, while the process of scrutiny would be completed in the next seven days.
After that the appeals could be filed and subsequently proceedings will be held on them.
The final list of candidates will be announced after the final date to withdraw the nomination forms.
