I know I've already shared my jewellery favourites and my top five from the ECA degree show but I just couldn't stop there. The Edinburgh students had so much to offer and, even though I didn't make it around all of it, there was plenty that caught my eye. I was especially impressed by the Textile Design, and the Performance Costume course was at it's usual high standard. Check out my best of the rest of the ECA Degree Show - photos aplenty.
Textiles
I loved Aisling Duffy's brightly coloured MFA collection. I especially loved the fabric photographs with the added glittery eyebrows.
I'm not sure how Camilla Wordie did it but she managed to make rice interesting. The texture and subtlety of these textiles was just beautiful.
Kirsty McCann's collection of textiles took me right back to being a child growing up in the 90's. They were incredibly vibrant and fun and definitely brought a smile to my face.
Performance Costume
I do enjoy a creepy and unsettling costume, this one from Amanda Mattes fitted that description in the best possible way.
The beaded detailing on this costume by Lauren Knight was very impressive.
I loved the insect print on this design by Claire Barclay. And I now desperately want a clear rain coat with pressed flowers please.
Graphic Design
Speaking of rain coats, this ski jacket by Rona Skuodas was rather awesome. I loved the print and they way it showed through the frosted outer layer. Very appropriate for the garment.
Neon signs will always be a winner for me. I loved this one accompanying Amy Jacobs's ad campaign.
Illustration
I do enjoy when illustration is given a 3D element so I loved Maisie Shearring's little illustrated scene.
Jode Pankhurst also brought her illustrations to life in the form of some amazing ceramics. This included ornaments, brooches and these rather fabulous pots.
It's not the usual style of illustration that I go for but I was very taken with this work from Dominic Kesterton. The colours were so striking and I loved the sci-fi-esque subject.
So there we have it, the ECA degree show in a number of nutshells. I spent a bit of time at the Glasgow School of Art this weekend so be prepared for the degree show fun to continue.
