Want to make your own healthy snacks, but don't know where to begin or which recipes are the best? Here's one that will surely make you crave more without all the added fat, sugar, and other bad things that can be found in normal snacks and junk foods like potato chips. In fact, these are a completely different kind of chip.
This recipe calls for zucchini and turning them into thin, crunchy, and tasty chips that happen to be a great alternative to other junk food cravings. You can make a big batch for the entire family to try. All it takes is about two hours to make these zucchini chips.
Here are all the ingredients you will need. These measurements will make about fifty or so zucchini chips.
- One large zucchini
- Two tablespoons of olive oil
- Kosher salt
And here's how to make these super easy and healthy zucchini chips:
- First preheat your oven to approximately 225 degrees. Next take two large baking sheets and begin lining them with parchment paper or other nonstick baking paper.
- Then slice the zucchini. It is best if you use a mandolin in order to achieve the best thinness as a mandolin is going to have different settings, but it isn't required. Once you have thinly sliced your zucchini, place all the slices on a paper towel or multiple paper towels if they all don't fit together, and press them in between another sheet of paper towel. This will draw out moisture and help them cook quicker.
- Begin lining up all the zucchini slices on the baking sheets row by row, make sure that none of the slices are overlapping or they won't cook properly.
- Have your olive oil in a small bowl and use a pastry or grilling brush to lightly brush the olive oil on the zucchini slices. You only need a little bit.
- Finally sprinkle the salt on the slices and bake for about two hours until they start to brown and are crispy, not soggy.
