To create a simple smokey eye, one needs to know a few key features :
- Always liner the lash line with a black and smoke it out.
- Always contour with one charcoal color.
- Always highlight in the inner corners and under the brow bone.
- Always use a lot of mascara as that makes the eyes look smoldering.
Btw I have used my lovely and famous BH cosmetics 120 Eyeshadow palette in 4 the Edition to do this look.
Note - there were immense fall outs and I could not shoot without a foundation underneath which I normally don't do to get rid of the fall outs. I cleaned the under eye area a lot but the darkness of the charcoal eyeshadow did not go. Please pardon me for that.
Lets see how to achieve it....
Its difficult to locate the exact shadows from this palette and thats why I must say, I have used a red-brown duochrome (green), a shimmery charcoal and a shimmery light beige from the palette. Just three colors.............
Conceal the under eye area with a concealer of your choice. I have used the Edward Bess Platinum Concealer in Tan in the under eye area and sealed with Guerlain Les Violettes Translucent Powder in 04. I haven't applied the concealer on the outer corners on purpose as this dilutes the black eye pencil to a certain extent.
Prime the lids with LORAC Behind the Scenes Primer to secure the eyeshadows and make them stay put longer.
Trace the lash line thickly and haphazardly with Rimmel's Scandaleyes Waterproof Eye Pencil in Black. Apply it thinner in the inner corners and make it thicker as you go outwards. Drag the line upwards to create a mini-lift.
Smudge the eye pencil and smoke it out. Also smudge the pencil in the crease and outer corners to add some more base to the eyeshadows to stick on.
Trace the lash line with the pencil. Pardon the fall outs and apply a reddend brown - green duo chrome eyeshadow on the upper and lower lids and smudge and blend.
Apply the brown on the lids upto the crease and blend it towards the brow bone.
Apply a shimmery charcoal eye shadow on the outer corners, lash line and the crease.
With a light shimmery beige eyeshadow highlight - the brow bone, inner corners and centres of the upper and lower lids to bring light to the areas and create a 3 Dimensional effect.
Line the lash line with LORAC PRO gel liner in Black using a thin liner brush like the one from Real Techniques.
Curl the lashes and apply lashings of LORAC Pro mascara in BLACK.
I prepped and primed the skin and applied Guerlain's Tenue De Perfection Foundation in 04 to create a canvas that got destroyed with the fall outs.
To add a touch of glamour, I have opted to go beige over the face with nuances of bronze and pink. Thence apply Chanel Joues Contraste blush in Accent on the cheeks and highlight with Clinique Fresh Bloom All Over Color in Almond Blossom. For the lips, apply Guerlain Rouge G in Gaby and drench them with a bedazzling Guerlain Gloss D'Enfer Maxi shine lip gloss in Gold Tchlak.
Hope you liked this simple smokey eye. Do let me know in the comments and please overlook the mistakes and appreciate the effort (minimal..LOL)
Till then,
Ciao
