Shortly after announcing the release date (August 20th) and tracklist of his long awaited major label debut, Earl Sweatshirt releases another single, “Hive”, his fourth so far from this upcoming release. The single features Earl’s typically lackadaisical but poignant delivery of enlightened and expressive imagery of a world he doesn’t sound particularly enthusiastic to be a part of, “breaking news that’s less important when the lakers lose / there’s lead in that baby food / hairs trying to make it through / fishnetted legs…” Newbie Vince Staples and Epic records-signed Casey Veggies balance out the track with some call and response over a minimal beat that shapeshifts with almost every phrase.
