Leeds band Eagulls appeared on most people’s radars after writing a half-serious half-humorous diatribe on SXSW culture. However, if you can forget the contentious blog-buzz and just jam out for a sec you’d be better off. On their latest single “Possessed” Eagulls explode into a guitar-filled shoegazey post-punk riff that’s catchy as all hell. The singer stays in the tradition of many british post-punkers. Though you can pick out influences here and there, the sound, an amalgamation of some of the best music of the past 40 years, shines with modernism and youthful energy. Their self-titled debut is out March 4th.
