And is still dynamic, every day there is a new change in the surroundings. This province of the United Arab Emirates is an exceptional example of what we call development. The rest of the world is completely astonished that how did a complete barren, sandy and deserted piece of land turn out to be what it is today. Without any resources and technology, this city transformed through such challenges and overcome those with flying colours. It gives me chills when I try to imagine how tough it would have been to attain this stature that it has now in all the fields be it generating its own recourses, building world-class infrasture and technology driven.
The area initially sustained by fishing and pearl diving for a thousand years, with the first records of the town being made in 1799 when the Bani Yas clan established it as a dependency of Abu Dhabi.
Dubai became a separate Sheikhdom in 1833 when the Al-Maktoum dynasty took it over peacefully. The Great Depression of 1929 caused a collapse in the international pearl market, Sheikh Saeed looking for an alternative source of income and inviting Indian and Iranian traders here without paying taxes. With the discovery oil in 1966, the country changed beyond recognition and led to Dubai becoming the vibrant, modern, business centred city. No, any other country would have thought that once a barren city of the Gulf will play a major role in the world economy.

Currently, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Makhtoum is the vice president of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Emirate of Dubai and his council of ministers are working tremendously to maintain the standard and also make it a superpower with proper diplomacy strategies and international relations.
The best result of their efforts is the launch of EXPO 2020, it will be hosted by Dubai which awarded by The Bureau International Des Expositions General Assembly in Paris on November 27, 2013. The Expo is expected to add a significant amount of dirhams to the economy of Dubai and the UAE.
