Dreamlover by Mariah Carey.

Surprisingly, I’ve never written about Mariah on here before. She should be mentioned though, she has incredible vocal range. I think her music has changed over the years but I guess that’s what comes with time. Anyways, here’s one of her classic hits from the 90′s.

Dreamlover was released as a single in July of 1993 from Mariah’s third album, Music Box. (It’s actually older than I thought – 20 years this July! Wow!) She co-wrote the lyrics with Dave Hall, a record producer. The music includes a sample of the hook from “Blind Alley” by The Emotions. It was the first track that pushed her into the pop scene, being that her previous album with gospel and 1960′s soul influences didn’t catch on in the music scene.

The single went to #1 on three Billboard charts: the Hot 100, Pop Songs, and Hot Dance Club Songs. It also went to #1 in Canada as well.

Above is a live performance from 1993.
