Doodle Bug Painting

By Kathybarbro @KathyBarbro

Doodle Bug Painting This may have started as a simple doodle drawing, but I challenged students to add some depth to their art by making the bugs different sizes. The little ladybug, though, was purely this artist’s clever addition. Love it, Lily!
1. I was inspired by some stock art found at istock.com. Students used the idea of different antennae, wing and tail size to make various bugs, some even upside down.
2. The pencil drawing was traced with a black Sharpie. Crayons were used to add lines and patterns inside the bugs.
3. My kids used liquid watercolor paint to finish the painting.
