Today is a day we've been looking forward to for many years. Today Angie is officially finished with graduate school after five years of research into her PhD in Chemical Engineering. While it is quite exciting that her nine years of undergraduate and graduate education are completely finished, it is even more exciting that she gets a new title.I don't want to sound pretentious or like I'm bragging in being excited that Angie will now have the Doctor title in-front of her name. In fact, it couldn't be further from the truth. While I am excited for her new title, it is not because of the work that went along with or the term Doctor itself, but it is rather due to our last name. Angie's new title will be Dr. Angela Jones.

For what it is worth, I've been teasing Angie with Indiana Jones references for years. How often do you get the chance to talk to someone named Dr. Jones, let alone be married to one? She will, after all, be the first PhD in our family. A lifetime of ridicule is sure to follow.
The bigger question is not so much what Angie's new title is, as our upcoming adventure trip already secures her status as being an Indiana Jones surrogate. But what does that make me?
For the hopes of all humanity, I hope to become the character Short Round. Not only do I get to say "Okey-dokey Doctor Jones" to my hearts content, I wouldn't be quite out of line to follow it up with a good "You crazy lady!" just for spite. May not be the correct context, but it'll do.
So congratulations to Angie on finishing her degree, but for the sake of travel writing we promise to not talk about Chemical Engineering again for a few years - if ever. The last few months have been more than enough into our non-travel writing background, and now it is time to get on to traveling - Indiana Jones style!
