A famous
attraction of this city is the Opera dei pupi Siciliani. It is a
performance that will make you happy. There
have been these performances from the
XIX century : the pupi are puppets with a mechanical movement different
from the classic puppets . Their performances are some knightly tales above all from the Carolingian cycle . Of course
there is not only fun but also culture suitable
both for all adults and children !
There are two main cities of the Pupi : Catania and Palermo. To introduce this magnificent art here this video that shows how to build a pupo .This task requires some craft skills including carving, sculpture, painting , tailoring . What about attend to a part of one performance ? All we are a bit kids inside and certainly we will have fun! Catania è una meravigliosa città in Sicilia che offre al visitatore l’opportunità di fare una vacanza tra arte, cultura, buon cibo ed ospitalità. Le cose da visitare sono tantissime e vi stupirete nel conoscerle. Uno dei primi suggerimenti era una visita allo splendido teatro romano di cui potete leggere qualche notizia nel post sotto linkato. Una delle grandi attrazioni è sicuramente l’opera dei pupi siciliani. Uno spettacolo di questi vi metterà di sicuro di buon umore. Queste rappresentazioni risalgono all’800 : i pupi sono marionette con una meccanica per muoverle differente dalle classiche e che narrano quasi sempre di storie cavalleresche in parte derivanti dal ciclo carolingio. Divertimento sì ma culturale e adatto a tutti adulti e bambini! Due sono le principali città per i Pupi: Catania e Palermo.
