Many women consider menopause time with a lot of dread and fear in their minds. This is because, they are led to believe that this period upheavals the normal life and routine of women and they have to face terrible hot flushes, mood swings, general lethargy and more. Though, all of this is true to a certain extent, it does not mean that one should let this time dominate over their normal lives. They must consider this time as a phase in life through which every woman has to pass. Also, there is no cure or treatment for menopause but in order to manage this condition, one can use a variety of ways. Some of them are-

Exercising

Exercising is one of the best options to tackle menopause and its negative impacts, if any. Many women think that they will not be able to exercise when going through this face as their bodies are not in their control, but a little bit of perseverance will offer great results. Even if one is not ready physically and psychologically for exercising, one must force herself to indulge in a few light exercises. This will help in lessening even severe symptoms of menopause. Major symptoms seen in women at this time are decrease in bone density and loss of muscle. Exercise helps in reducing both symptoms to a considerable extent.

High impact exercise must be carried out by women like jogging, climbing stairs, jumping jacks, and more besides walking to see a difference in the intensity of menopause symptoms. When bones and muscles get stressed during exercise, it brings positive results. Instead of going for repetitive exercises, women must concentrate more on peak load over bones. Advice from a healthcare professional or a physical therapist can be sought to find the best exercises that can help in this regard.

Proper, well balanced, diet

Proper diet with high nutrition value has a lot of impact on a woman suffering from severe menopause symptoms. During this time, a woman must consume foods that are rich in calcium as bones need extra strength during this phase of every woman’s life. Healthy drinks like yogurt and milk should be made a part of everyday diet. This way, a woman will stay strong and more resilient when passing through menopause phase. Other food products that should be made a part of daily diet are green and leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, soy and herbs. Dietary supplements must also be used ensuring important nutrients are gained by the body. In order to allow body consume calcium, women must also consume Vitamin D. This vitamin is considered necessary for calcium absorption. Vitamin D is available in tuna, salmon, eggs and orange juice.

Proper diet combined with a good exercise regimen will lower the severity of menopause symptoms but cannot prevent menopause entirely. Since at this time, the level of estrogen increases in a woman’s body, it has a drastic impact on the density of bones increasing chances of fracture that may occur due to falls. Thus, it is very important to take extra care of yourself when going through this phase in life.
