Do I Have to Remove My Wallpaper?

By Homesmsp @HomesMSP

The issue of wallpaper often comes up when sellers are getting their home ready to sell. Is it really necessary to remove it? Of course not. But if you don't, you will likely end up paying for it somehow... whether in price or market time, or both.

Take this home below... in beautiful condition but with wallpaper in the dining room and kitchen. The sellers decided they didn't want to remove it so listed it with the wallpaper in place.

Dining-before

After repeated feedback that the home was dated they decided to remove it...

Dining-after

...and had an offer not long afterwards.

Was it the wallpaper that made the sale? Hard to say how much of an impact it made, the buyer may not even be aware that it made a difference, it was removed when she visited the property... but I would be surprised if it didn't have an effect, at least subconsciously.

In reality wallpaper can make a big difference... not only in price but also in whether a buyer is ready to make an offer... or even visit the property at all. Why take chances? Removing wallpaper can be a great boon to getting a sale at the best price in the shortest amount of time on your home... for many, your biggest investment.
