Yes, the smell can turn you off but don’t worry you’re not going to party with mayo on your hair. Take an ample amount of mayo and rub it on your hair, from root to tip. Massage gently until the hair strands absorb it and you can no longer see any trace. The hair will feel heavy because of the oil and eggs from mayo. Leave it for 15-30 minutes depending on the length of your hair, wrap with hot towel. You can do this at least once a week twice a month.

The coconut oil has saturated fats and is believed to cure various conditions. The coconut milk, extracted from fresh coconut meat is a very good alternative to coconut oil and does the same effect on your hair. Massage your hair from root to tip and wrap in hot towel. Leave for at least 30 minutes then rinse off. You can do this at least twice a month.

Henna, the powder prepared from the leaves of Henna tree which are use in art tattoos can also be used to repair damaged hair. It makes the hair super healthy and shiny. This DIY is very easy to prepare. Use tea drink to dilute the powder and add yoghurt to the mixture. Use protective clothing when applying on to your hair, it can temporary stain fabric. Wrap the hair with plastic hair cover and leave for at least two hours and rinse off thoroughly. It might leave strands of burgundy shade to your hair and will keep your hair strong and shiny.

Extra Tips To Keep Your Hair Healthy and Shiny

Besides going to salons and spas and doing the DIY recommended above, you can also do the following extra tips to keep your hair healthy and shiny.

1. Cut your hair at least two inches every month. This will ensure that no split ends will grow together with the healthy strands.
2. Use debt angling comb in grooming your wet or damp hair. The friction between comb’s teeth and hair will make the hair brittle and coarse.
3. Brush your dry hair every night at least before going to bed. This will remove dirts and dust that clung on to your hair through out the day and will let the natural oil of your hair to shine.
4. Avoid using harsh shampoos. Use hair conditioner frequently.
5. Give your hair the time to breathe. Wear your hand down and avoid using elastic or hair accessories that would deform the shape of your hair.
