Photo above: Inspiration (price $165)
I have been seeing this trend this past month, but the prices on these one of a kind blazers/vests are just too d*** expensive!
So what do I do? I go to my closest thrift store bought this $2 denim vest and this .50 cent tiger shirt. Grabbed a few of my excess studs, a scissor, liquid stitch, unused animal print fabric for patching (see photo below).
Photo above (finished product): My Version with my name’s first letter “S”.
Steps:
1. Cut the area of your desired feline image from the shirt you bought or already have.
2. Fold the shirt proportionally so the patch looks the same size after cutting it.
3. Place the patch where you want it on the back of the vest (make sure they are proportional,so mark some dots on the corners where the patch will be placed).
4. Now, liquid stitch the patch.
5. Place the “liquid-stitched patch” on the vest.
6. Let it sit for a couple of hours (I placed some books on top of it to add more pressure on the liquid stitched patch).
7. When it’s all dried up, surround the corners of the patch with studs, like the inspiration on the first pic.
8. You’re done!
9. You can add more decorations if you like what I did with mine, and made a letter “S” inside the square of studs that I have placed.
10. I then cut 2x2 inches patches from an unused animal print fabric I have and placed it on the spaces inside the stud square (photo below).
11. Let it dry for a day, then it is ready to be used. ^_^Y
Now that I have my “desired” feline style patched vest I only have one thing left to do, pair it with an outfit ;)
I used my DIY mullet dress under the vest.
I also wore my DAS anniv. edition shoes.
Well I hope you guys find this mini project helpful, esp. to those that want “trendy” clothes but don’t find it practical to spend hundreds of dollars for it. I feel y’all… because I am one of those frugalista when in comes to clothes.
