DIY Burlap Bulletin Board

Picture DIY Burlap Bulletin Board For those of you who visit me often, you already know I have a love of burlap.  I am slightly obsessed with it, and have done some additional posts you may like for a no sew burlap table runner, how to print on burlap, and more.  I have even shared a great DIY burlap throw pillow over at My Crafty Spot.  If you have been following me, you know I have been working on my daughters work station.  We recently built her a desk, added a little flair, and am finishing it all up this week!  The latest project for her work station is this great diy burlap bulletin board. I love the functionality of having a place to put your quick reminders and a few unique little things.  Here are the supplies you will need:
  • canvas
  • frame
  • burlap (check out this one!)
  • frame
  • drill
  • duct tape
  • thread, twine, or your choice of wire
  • offsett hook set
The first thing you want to do is measure and cut your burlap to be a bit larger than your canvas.  My canvas is a 16 x 20 to fit the frame. Picture Cut your burlap larger than your canvas. Now here is where my Southern self decided to have fun.  To attach the burlap I thought about using my glue gun.  Did not work.  Mod Podge? Sure, but for some reason my large jar has dissappeared.  Next up: Duct tape.  Yes, I did indeed go there.  I used duct tape to stretch and tack down the burlap so it would be snug and tight with the canvas.
I then added the two satin cords for a decorative touch to the board.  I wanted to give it a little color pop, and I thought this was really cute.  Picture Stretch and pull the burlap to fit the canvas, then add your decorative twine or satin cord for a little flair. Now that you are finished with the canvas, it is now time to add the canvas to your chosen frame.  To frame your canvas, follow this tutorial here.  It's a quick and easy tutorial and you will be happy you have this framed!
Here is our final, finished, burlap bulletin board.   Picture FInal finished burlap bulletin board Thanks for sticking around this week and watching as we transformed my daughters empty four foot space into a very usable work station.  School study time will be so much easier on her this year.
Make sure to come back tomorrow to see how we put this all together for the finale!
I would love to have you follow me on any of the social sites below, and I can't wait to see what you are doing as well!
