DISCOVER THE STEPS TO FOLLOW WHEN YOU ARE JOINING A MODELING AGENCY

One of the most important things any aspiring model needs to do is join a top agency. Your agency represents you. If they are not of quality then your chances of bagging those dream modelling jobs are going to suffer dramatically. There are of course models who have made a successful career by doing it freelance. However, this is a much more difficult route to go down. Not only can an agency provide you with much more castings but their advice proves to be extremely valuable as well.

The first thing you need to do before you can join any modeling agency is find the one you wish to represent you. There are several things you need to consider when doing this. Firstly, make sure the agency has a good reputation. Do a little bit of digging online and see what the reviewers have to say. In addition to this, you want to make sure the agency is on the same wavelength as you i.e. If you want to go into commercial modelling then opting for a high fashion modelling agency represents a conflict of interests and you are not going to get the best help possible.

Once you have found an agency you like the next step is to discover what they want. This information can usually be found on their website. The agency may have certain requirements they need you to fulfill. Furthermore, they may suggest the type of photographs they want you to send them. Make sure you adhere to their wishes. Taking the photographs is important. Typically agencies will want a minimum of one head shot and one body shot. There is no need for these to be taken professionally. Of course there is no harm done if you do decide to go down the professional route. However, if you cannot afford to do so then do not feel as if this is a necessity. The professional photographs will come later. For now the agency just wants to see what you look like on camera.

Once you have done so you can then prepare a cover letter. What should this consist of? Well, most importantly it needs to contain all of the important statistics about yourself. This includes height, dress size, waist measurement, hip measurement, and bust and shoe size. If you have any prior experience in the modelling industry you should definitely include this. Any jobs in this area, such as dance training or acting work, are worth mentioning as well. You should also give an explanation of why you want to be a model and also why you have what it takes to be a good one.

Check over everything before you send and then you are good to go. You may be required to do an interview if the agency likes what it sees. Practice, practice and practice some more as far as this is concerned. And remember; the modelling world is all about knowing how to handle rejection. You are going to get knockbacks. Don’t let it dishearten you.
