Dirty Magic by The Offspring

By now you know that I have a fondness for songs with a darkness about them. I’ve said this many times before. There’s just something about the music, it becomes so beautiful. Darkness is beautiful? Maybe it is sometimes. It’s all about the emotion.

Dirty Magic was released in October of 1992 from the band’s second album, Ignition. Woah, that makes it 20 years old! Time really does fly. Anyways, it never became a single but the album was ranked #2 on Guitar World’s top ten list of guitar albums of 1992. In addition, it sold over one million copies and was certified gold two years after the release of their third album, Smash.

Most recently it was re-recorded for their new album, Days Go By, which was released today. I was surprised to see it on the track listing but maybe it will get more attention this time. Who knows? Next single? Maybe!

Above is an acoustic performance.
