Mascara is something I don't get too excited about. These feelings always come with a story so hear me out. In Filipino culture, there's this cruel cruel practice of trimming a baby's eyelashes so it would grow back longer and fuller. My mother, who is just as squeamish as I am, made my godmother trim my lashes when I was a baby. Take it from me, it doesn't work and I have the shortest lashes. I recently caved and got the latest mascara offering from Dior - Addict It-Lash...
On the outside:
- Great packaging.
- Handle is easy to grip.
- The wand itself has a rounded end which is aimed for the roots.
So what does it promise?
- Volume, length, curved doe like lashes
- Easy to layer in order to achieve 'intensity'
- Easy to remove and can be rinsed off with lukewarm water
And what does it actually do?
Length - Adds length but nothing miraculous.
Volume - One coat looks natural. Two coats is dramatic but can potentially get clumpy and spidery.
Curl - It definitely gives a slight lift to uncurled lashes and it holds quite well.
There was very little smudging after approximately eight hours of wear. There was very little transfer onto my under eyes (mind you, I only lightly applied it to my lower lashes - not a fan of mascara for bottom lashes)
Here's photographic evidence when I used the rounded end to start coating the lashes from the root.
Forgive the shiny nose but the rest is: Kiehl's Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50, Dior Hydra Life BB Cream in Beige, MAC Painterly, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light, Hourglass Arch Brow in Dark Brunette, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure, Maybelline Baby Lips Glow in Baby Pink
My conclusion:
I like it but it's not ideal for my short lashes but the hefty price tag means I'm going to continue using it.
Price / Availability
NZ$63 from Farmers
US$26 from Sephora
Would I recommend this?
Yes but only to those with longer lashes.
Have you tried the Dior Addict It Lash mascara or any other mascaras from Dior?
