For the most part, you can rest assured with your choice of ring band made of gold, platinum or even of unusual metals like palladium. Buying a ring that’s already complete with the ring band and the diamond, what will strike you will be the overall look of the ring. Even if it’s important that you need to look at the various elements of the diamond rings separately too, it can be difficult to really see everything about the diamond and everything about the ring band that way. With loose diamonds, you can concentrate on the look of the diamond, how the light enters into the lower facets of the diamond, and so on. With a separate mounting for the perfect diamond, you can make sure about the detailed designs on your ring.

Diamond Rings: The Shape of the Diamond

Did you know that diamonds can be cut into many different shapes? If you want the classic design for your diamond rings, you’ll do well with the round shaped diamond. If you’re going for a hint of uniqueness in your ring, you might like the oval shaped diamond. Going a little bit thicker than that, you have the cushion shaped diamond. For loose diamonds that are a little bit edgy so to speak, you might want to have a princess cut diamond set in your ring. Another option is the radiant cut.

Emerald cut diamonds have a different facet to radiant cut diamonds and it’s the same with the Asscher cut diamonds in comparison to the princess cut diamond. You can also get a heart shaped diamond for your ring and you can accent this with smaller pear shaped diamonds. What about a marquise cut diamond? You have a boat shaped diamond for your ring in this case.

Diamond Rings: Making the Cut

You’ve read that diamond rings put a lot of emphasis on the four Cs of diamonds. One of the Cs here relate to the cut of the stone. Just when you think it’s all about shape, this also deals with the grades of the cut of your choice of gemstone. You can get a diamond with an excellent cut that reflects so much light that sparkles like the twinkling stars in the heaven. While this is a very rare and expensive type of cut, it would be worth your every penny because it sparkles like no other. If you’re thinking about your budget, you can go for any other cut. However, it’s best to avoid diamond cut grades of the fair cut and the poor cut.

As you can see, buying loose diamonds for your diamond rings can ensure the quality of the diamond that you buy.
