Devotional: Don’t Remember You Forgot

By Actuallystrange @ActuallyStrange

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do , forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before (emphasis added).” (Philippians 3:13)

Many Christians know this verse but how many know what it actually means?

Have you ever forgotten something? You’re on your way to work and you realise that you left your wallet at home. It completely slipped your mind.

What’s funny is that you don’t realise that you forgot your wallet until you remember that you forgot your wallet which means that you no longer forgot. Instead of forgetting your wallet at home, you left your wallet at home.

Essentially, you must remember in order to realise you forgot.

God wants us to forget our sinful past in the same way that we forget our wallet, except He doesn’t want us to realise we forgot. It is to slip our mind forever so that we may turn away from sin and turn towards becoming like Christ.
