Tahir-ul-Qadri long marchLed by Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri, Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran’s democracy march entered Islamabad late on Monday night.

Tens of thousands of people will hold a sit-in in the heart of federal capital – Blue Area – until the demands of TMQ are met. Foolproof security arrangements have been made beside long march’s route and cellular services have been suspended in the metropolitan.

Gathered at Jinnah Avenue, scorers of people including women and kids gave the warm welcome to the partakers of the long-march.

The democracy march had started yesterday (Sunday) from Lahore at about 2:00 pm.

The participants of long march have brought the food, drinking water and other necessities for life with them as they don’t know how much time they would have to stay in the federal capital.

Tahir-ul-Qadri, whose three main demands from the government are: reconstitution of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP); implementation of Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution, and installation of an honest caretaker government, said they won’t leave Islamabad until their demands are accepted.

“We will stay in Islamabad until this government is finished, all the assemblies are dissolved, all corrupt people are totally ousted, a just constitution is imposed, rule of law is enforced, and true and real democracy is enforced,” he told AFP on Monday.
