Captured this Turbo Otter resting after a busy day of flying. Harbour Air operates the largest all-seaplane fleet in North America.  The Otter was conceived in 1951 as a larger, more powerful version of their highly successful DHC-2 Beaver STOL aircraft. First flown in 1951, 466 of these aircraft were built before production ended in 1967. Surprisingly the United States Army became the largest operator of the aircraft with an order for 200. The Turbo Otter, reconfigured with a 750 HP turbine engine, combined the versatility of the original Otter with turbine engine performance. In 1928 the De Havilland Aircraft Company set up a subsidiary in Canada, leading to the creation of many memorable aircraft.
