Owner Willie Turner taxies his colorful Marquart MA-5 Charger, a plane built by his mother. First flown in 1971, the Charger is a homebuilt two place sport biplane developed by Ed Marquart at Flabob Airport. The Charger design dates from 1970 and was designed to perform mild aerobatics. The design was inspired by 1930s aircraft like the Bücker Jungmann and Stampe SV.4, celebrated for its graceful lines, open tandem cockpits, and traditional construction. In 1991, a Charger was the first biplane to solo both directions across the Atlantic.
