Decorating with Black Bathroom Vanities

By Jakemontgomery @LTDOnlineStores

If there’s one thing that holds steadfast in life, it’s the fact that you can’t go wrong with black. Black has played an integral part in fashion and design since the beginning of time. Luxury brands like Mercedes Benz, Chanel, Prada, & Michael Kors use black because it communicates a level of elegance that resonates well with the masses. Black has long been associated with style and sophistication.

Putting together the right combination is not impossible. Black vanities do come in a variety of shades and tones but you can find the right set of pieces to make everything blend together seamlessly. Black is beautiful and I’m going to show you why.

Things to Keep in Mind

Colors, Tones, & Shades

As with any other color, the tone of the finish can vary. When people refer to black, often times what you’ll find is the espresso finish as seen in Virtu USA’s Gloria Vanity. Espresso looks black when standing back but if you look closely, it is really a rich dark brown color. If seen in open daylight, you’ll be able to see hints of brown but if placed in a normal bathroom environment, it will look like it’s black.

Espresso vanities are very popular right now especially in modern bathrooms. Other variations will have a dark brown appearance with hints of red. Still, these will look black in normal bathroom lighting. If you’re unsure, it’s not a bad idea to verify this to make sure that you get just what you’re looking for.  Browse Black Bathroom Vanities.

Style of Vanity

Black vanities are seen more in modern and contemporary styles of cabinetry. This is because black and white are bold, simple, clean, and elegant, highlighting the qualities of mid-century modern design patterns. These types of vanities are mainly different in the way that they are installed and a couple other decorative features.

Picking the Right Size

As you know, bathrooms come in all shapes and sizes. In order to develop the best layout, it’s important to remember that as much as you want more counter space, you have to leave room for mobility. Black bathroom vanities are popular in the 24 inch and 36 inch models.

Choosing a Mirror

Obviously you want the mirrors to coordinate with the style and tones of your vanity. Many times, a given vanity will be available with a matching/optional mirror. Sometimes they can be rather bland or not exactly what you’re looking for so feel free to browse around!

The one thing that you want to keep in mind is to stay simple if your vanity is simple. You want your mirror and vanity to be seamless. On the contrary, if you’re going for a vintage/antique look, use a mirror that has hand carvings and ornate details along the frame.

Lighting is Key

Lighting can never be understated but the color black works nicely on lighting fixtures for several reasons. For one, the contrast of the bright light and the black color looks very clean. For best results, you can find a combination of decorative and task lighting to provide both functional and decorative use from your lighting arrangement.

As with the mirrors, make sure the colors coordinate. Although espresso is black for all intents and purposes, small differences in tone may become more evident when placed next to a true black mirror or lighting fixture. Make sure you coordinate these to create the perfect black vanity combination!
