December: I See Your Stress Card, and I Raise You... One Charlie Brown Movie

By Jenny Mac Rogers @jennymac1207

I made myself a promise about tonight, and I was bound and determined to keep it.
This morning, before I left for work and the kids headed off to school, I told them that tonight, we would snuggle up on the couch and watch a Christmas move, drink hot cocoa and have a snack.
It's been a hectic week. One of those weeks. Both hubs and I were incredibly busy at work, there was at least one holiday party that had to be attended, there was an overabundance of homework, and there was an incident in which a green crayon and a purple crayon went through the washer AND the dryer in the pocket of a certain someone's school uniform. With a full load of both kids' school uniforms.
One of those weeks.
A good deal of housekeeping also went by the wayside.
The kids' rooms weren't in great shape...

Heck, my room wasn't in great shape...

But the kids do at least both have a Christmas tree in their rooms. Of sorts...

The Aflac duck is standing guard, apparently. Too bad he couldn't protect Coco the monkey from this unfortunate Caterpillar trackhoe incident.

This was a Pinterest project from last year. In case you can't tell, it's a Christmas tree made of tulle. One problem. I bought too long of a dowel (which is essentially the trunk of the tree), and got weary of gathering tulle circles about halfway down. I also never quite got around to figuring out how the thing would stand up on its own. So as you can see, it leans against the table and the wall.                                                                       Pinterest 1, Jenny Mac 0.

So yeah, I could have done a lot of other things on this Friday night. But we stuck to the plan.
Christmas PJs, Home Alone, Charlie Brown, lots of blankets and a few stuffed animals.

And I took it easy on myself. Instant cocoa. Mini marshmallows. Instead of whipping up actual whipped cream, Redi-whip in a can. (The generic store brand actually.) Instead of trying to bake a batch of homemade cookies, I bought donuts. Yes, donuts. Three kinds.

And I finally got to use my Christmas china.
Wishing you this kind of holiday happiness,
