Hey Santa, please hear our pleas …
It’s been a very long time between Santa visits in this household. Baby Girl turns 3 the first week of January and so for the 2 Christmases past, we’ve figured that firstly she’d not know who Santa is or what he means, and secondly, even if she did, she’d be unlikely to ever have a memory of us blatantly ignoring it.
My Big Boy (15) and Middle Young Man (13) wised up to the Santa-gig many years ago and so until now, I’d honestly forgotten what the Santa routine entails.
Baby Girl certainly knows who Santa is. It’s the bloke at the shopping centre who she is “not scared of, Mummy” because he brings soooooo many Barbies. That’s right, she’s decided exactly what WILL be in her Santa sack and that’s the end of it. As far as she’s concerned anyway. Suggestions otherwise are met with utter despair, of the heartbroken kind. Sobs, wails and a look on her face equivalent to what you’d expect should it be news instead of the world ending tomorrow.
In her mind there is no reasoning that Santa needs to share Barbies with other little girls.
She has no doubt that she has been good all year. Hmmm, well, I wonder if Santa knows about this?
And she truly, in her heart of hearts, believes that Santa is bringing her sooooooooo many Barbies.
Not one Barbie and not two Barbies but soooo many Barbies and this is said with an accompanying hand up showing sooooooo many fingers.
I am calling help on this one, and her big brothers are hiding smirks.
Are your kids convinced that they’re a cert to snag something special for Christmas? I’m off to drop a line to the big guy in red ….
