At least 34 people have been killed and more then hundred injured in Pakistan as a deadly earthquake shuddered parts of country including Islamabad, Hyderabad, Karachi, Lahore, Abbottabad and Quetta.
According to reports, 21 were killed in Mashkel, around 600 kilometres southwest of Quetta, in Balochistan while more than one thousand homes have been damaged. Over 100 people were injured Panjgur area of Balochistan.
Two buildings have also reportedly been collapsed in Layari and Khar areas of Karachi, leaving five people injured. The tremors were felt for several seconds. People came out of their houses and offices reciting verses from the Holy Quran.
According to United States Geological Survey, the intensity of quake was 7.8 and its epicenter was in southeast Iran at a depth of 15.2 km while Iranian Geological Survey said that its origin was located 201 km (125 miles) southeast of the Iranian city of Zahedan and 250 km northwest of Turbat in Pakistan.
It was Iran’s most powerful earthquake for nearly 40 years, and has reportedly claimed the lives of at least 45 people.
Tremors of deadly quake were felt across Pakistan, India and several Gulf States, including Sharjah and Dubai.
Meanwhile, Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR) said that Army has started relief activities in earthquake-affected areas.
