A re-edit from a 2015 aviation photography event held in conjunction with the now-defunct Cavanaugh Flight Museum located in Texas. The museum’s Caribou is seen demonstrating its impressive short strip landing capabilities. Use of large flaps allow for the nose down landing attitude, advantageous for short field landings. First flown in 1958, the type served with the US Army (CV-2) from 1961 to 1967 when the USAF took over fixed wing operations and redesignated them as the C-7 Caribou. The Caribou achieved legendary status during the Vietnam War, where its STOL performance allowed for resupplying isolated forward operating bases that were inaccessible to larger transports like the C-130 Hercules.
