DCA Gems

By Jollygoodstudio @JollyGoodStudio
Back in December I headed along to a craft fair held by Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA). I love visiting the DCA and always find plenty of beautiful treasures in their shop and their winter fair was no different. As well as hosting some of my favorite local designers (Jane Gowans, Hello Jenuine, Lovely Pigeon) the fair also introduced me to some new faces and beautifully designed products. In a pass it on kind of way I thought I'd share some of there work here, incase you too were unaware of these wonders.DCA GemsDCA Gems
Joanne Garner
I loved Joanne's jewelry and was especially drawn to the rings. The oxidised pieces set with beautifully coloured stones really caught my eye, my favorite being the ones with added chain detail.

Jessica HowarthJessica can sure do some special stuff with enamel. I loved all the textures and colours that featured in her work. Plus she also teaches classes, I'm thinking I might have to get myself along to one.

Helen Ruth ScarvesNot only does Helen have an excellent name, she also creates some really beautiful scarves. They are covered with detailed illustrations of animals, skulls and flowers. I especially loved the ones that combined the illustrated elements with photographic details.
The DJCAD Jewellery and Metalwork students also had a stall at the event and I was very impressed by what they had to offer. It got me so excited for degree show season. Check out their facebook page for more images of their work. Below are some of the students whose work I particularly enjoyed.

Beth SpowartGeometric shapes in lovely muted greys and yellows. I loved the placement of Beth's designs, especially the above necklace.

Rosie KimberI love the crystallised look to Rosie's work. The color combination of orange and gold is a particular joy.

Catherine Ritchie Catherine creates such sweet pieces of jewelry featuring adorable animals. I love the placement of the squirrel on the ring above.
