The much awaited time in the fashion industry is back again. Any guesses??? Well, I am talking about none other than New York Fashion Week. NYFW fall/winter 2020 is finally here. It's every blogger's/fashionista's dream to be attending fashion week and honestly winter is the best time to attend cuz not many people are willing to brave the New York cold. The mayhem begins this Thursday and continues through the 14th. It's time to get all the shows and parties lined up and get all your creative juices flowing.
I have been invited to a few shows and events and like any other attendee I am freaking out about the entire process, right from invites to events and outfits to the overall trip. Considering other unavoidable expenses like travel tickets, lodging, food, local commute and photographer costs, I promised myself not to go crazy with shopping for too many outfits and utilize pretty much what I already own. Truth be told, NYFW is all about having fun, going beyond your comfort level and exhibiting all your sartorial skills and creativity. It's actually easier than you think and my outfit is a testament to the easiness of dressing up for fashion week. I keep my pants suit on, just swapped my heels for a pair of chunky sneakers and glasses for a more funky pair, cross-bodied the bucket bag that I was already carrying and threw over a bright contrasting coat to make the look pop.
Other key things to remember when dressing up for fashion week:
1) warmth- NY tends to get really cold and even a few degrees cooler than what the weather would show. So be prepared and bring on your heaviest, warmest, brightest coat- the bigger, the bolder is always preferred if you want to get noticed on the streets.
ZARA blazer // ZARA pants // STEVE MADDEN pumps // FENDI bucket bag // J CREW jacket // ALDO SHOES sneakers

2) practical clothing- don't try to be too adventurous and show up in a mini skirt or short dress. Wear something that looks and feels practical and keeps you warm. If you exude confidence, you get noticed.
3) handsfree bag- when taking photos is your only NYFW agenda, you better come prepared and keep your hands free of bags or clutter. A bucket bag comes in really handy and looks chic.
4) comfortable shoes- there is always a wait before the shows and a lot of walking is involved, so keep it comfortable all the time.
These are just some of my hacks for killing the street style during fashion week. What are yours?
