DC Comics Releases Concept Art for Masters of the Universe

DC Comics has released some concept art from their panel at the San Diego Comic Con for their Masters of the Universe title.  They are really going in a bold new direction with MOTU and I’m not a fan of the new designs.  When they released the He-Man redesign, I pretty much laughed for a solid 10 minutes.  I guess if you can accept a guy wearing leather straps and a dead rat on his junk, they thought we would be okay with anything.

moss

I guess Moss Man doesn’t look too bad.  He looks more furry than mossy though.  I wonder if he stands on the south side of the tree if he becomes naked?

STRATOS

Stratos was always a favorite of mine and, honestly, this doesn’t look too bad.  The helmet and wings are a nod to the original without being too drastically different.  A little too GI Joe looking, but overall I like it.

teela

WTF?  That was my first reaction to this.  I give them props for choosing to cover her up.  Most artists feel a bikini is appropriate female armor, but this is just….fugly.  At least her hair is now red.  That’s a positive, right?  I guess its good that it is a concept design because they can fix it.  Please, please fix it.
