DC Announces New Weekly Batman Title

Posted on the 10 October 2013 by Geekasms @geekasms

DC Comics announced today that they are launching a new weekly Batman comic next year called Batman: Eternal.  It is being written by current Batman writer, Scott Snyder, and art by Jason Fabok.  Joining Snyder will be James Tynion IV, John Layman, Ray Fawkes, and Tim Seeley, each handling different story arcs.

One of the reasons for this new comic is to celebrate Batman’s 75th anniversary.  DC starts off the party with a special anniversary issue of Detective Comics #27, which just happens to be the same issue number that Batman made his first appearance in 1939.  This issue hits stands on January 8th and will include a retelling of Batman’s origin by Brad Meltzer and artist Bryan Hitch.  Also included will be stories by Frank Miller, current Batman writer Scott Snyder with Sean Murphy, Peter J. Tomasi and Guillem March, Paul Dini and Dustin Nguyen and Gregg Hurwitz and Neal Adams.  Wow!

As if that wasn’t enouch, DC also announced that Detective Comics will be getting a new creative team in the form of Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato, who will be moving over from The Flash.  It’s going to be a great year to be a Batman fan!
