Several months ago I was in a local coffee shop, Uptown Café, and as I was leaving I noticed these beautiful paintings on the wall.I was drawn, no pun intended, to one painting in particular. The colors of the painting matched nothing in my home so I asked the cashier for the artists’ contact information and he gave it to me. I wanted to contact the artist to see if she could paint me something similar but just different colors.
I e-mailed the artist, Michelle Pendergrass, and several weeks later she was in my home looking at the colors in my office so she could create a painting for me.We immediately connected and I knew that God had brought her into my life for a reason. She has great energy, is very positive, motivated and has a great story on how she started painting and now her business.I love meeting people who are explorers in life and their careers. It is rare that people follow their passions and do what they truly love on a daily basis. This is the second time in a year when I have encountered a stranger, picked up their business card, sent a random e-mail about their product and developed a friendship.I think life is full of opportunities to do great things and meet amazing people. We just have to stop long enough to listen to that little voice that is telling us to make a call or send an e-mail. It is the same voice that tells us to help a stranger, flash a smile or give a gift. Though this journey I have really tried to be focused on listening, helping others and giving of myself. On most days we will never know the impact of one small action.
Today my gift is a Bible to Michelle. In her paintings she somehow weaves clippings of Bible verses into the art and she mentioned when she was visiting that she could always use more Bibles. Want to see the amazing artwork I saw in Uptown Café? Or if you are local attend a Visual Prayer class on the 4th Friday of each month at Uptown Café.Check out Michelle’s website at http://visualprayer.com/.
