One of the top 10 New Year’s resolutions is to get and stayed organized. If I had to bet, I am guessing many of you had this on your list of resolutions or things to accomplish in 2012. Have you taken any steps to meet this New Year’s resolution? If not or if you haven’t started on your closet maybe Soles4Souls will motivate you to get organizing and making a difference at the same time.
I am not for sure how I came across the organization Soles4Souls but when I did I was intrigued and put it on my list of organizations to research and donate to in the future. Soles4Souls is an organization, according to their website that, “collects new shoes to give relief to the victims of abject suffering and collects used shoes to support micro-business efforts to eradicate poverty.”I took five minutes tonight to go through my closet and pick out five pairs of shoes to donate. I find, especially when it comes to shoes or clothes, I hold onto them even if they are outdated or I don’t wear them. For most things in my home I can discard of if I don’t use it or love it. I have a problem doing this with clothes and shoes. Today I was actually ashamed of myself that I had a difficult time picking out five pairs of shoes. I originally could only pick out two and then had a thought, “Really Stephanie, really? You probably have 40+ pair of shoes and you can’t find five to donate?” After this self talk I quickly picked out three more pairs. Guilt and reality of how blessed I am will get me every time.
I encourage you to take 5-10 minutes to go through the closets in your home and donate 5 or more pair of shoes to Soles4Souls. To learn more about Soles4Souls and how you can donate new or used shoes go to http://www.soles4souls.org/.
