In a totally brilliant move, David Bowie has cast Oscar winner Tilda Swinton as his wife in a new video/short film for the single “The Stars (Are Out Tonight).” In the video, Mr. and Mrs. Bowie– just your average, boring, suburban, grocery cart-pushing couple– are confronted head-on by the terrifying, devilish trappings of fame. “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” is epic and amazing for several reasons, including (but not limited to) the following:
- Tilda Swinton and David Bowie look exactly alike– I mean, exactly. Are they the same person? It’s possible.
- The tall, thin, androgynous supermodel antagonists of the video– played by Andrej Pejic and Saskia Brauw– pretty much look exactly like Tilda Swinton and David Bowie, also.
- In the beginning of the video, David Bowie wishes his friend a “Happy Hump Day.”
- It’s Tilda Swinton and David Bowie. Together. In one video.
