Most of us have become very dependent upon our utility services. We pay for and thus expect the lights to come on when we flip the switch, water to flow from the faucet when we move the handle and appliances as well as heat and air conditioning to come on when we flip or touch the on-switch. We dearly pay our local utility companies that provide power for these conveniences and we expect these services to be delivered to us in a safe manner.
What we don’t expect is a device called a Smart Meter to be installed on our home, often without notice, that many experts are dubbing nothing less than an institutional surveillance monitoring device which emits electromagnetic radiation into our home.

an overall system that includes a mesh network or series of wireless antennas at the
neighborhood level to collect and transmit wireless information from all the smart meters
in that area back to a utility.”
Local utility companies across the country have been and are currently installing the wireless Smart Meters not only on our homes, but also on schools and businesses. The wireless Smart Meters are different than your traditional analog meter because they are capable of recording and communicating, via wireless RF radiation bursts, information and data to your utility company on how much energy you are using as often as every 15 minutes 24/7. This provides your local utility company (and you) a near real-time picture of how much energy you are using during certain times of each hour and throughout the entire day. In addition to the wireless Smart Meter monitoring your energy usage, many do not realize that there are also wireless gas and water meters now being deployed. The placement of Smart Meters are usually located close to beds, kitchens, playrooms, and similar locations. As stated above, these wireless systems are never off, and the exposure is not voluntary. Smart Meters are being forced on citizens everywhere and are a sure violation of our safety, health & privacy.
Smart Meter Health Concerns
On May 31st, 2011, the World Health Organization classified radio frequency electromagnetic fields as a possible human carcinogen. Although this does not sound harmful, as it is just “possible” and not “probable,” it is never-the-less a warning that we may be playing with fire by exposing students and their teachers (some of whom may be pregnant) to microwave radiation generated by Wi-Fi routers in the classroom. Health authorities, like Health Canada, have tried to downplay this new classification and wrongly assumed that it applied only to cell phones. Be ProActive
Refuse Smart Meter Installations – Never compromise with a violator of your freedoms and rights. Never agree to a harmful proposal from your Utility Company that can undermine your health and well-being. (see example of Utility Letter below)
Refuse Opt-Outs – Never agree to or pay for the ability to “opt-out”. That is extortion — charging people for not having something which is not needed. Realize that smart meters will spy on your utility behavior which allows fees to be raised and/or lowered at certain times of the days.
Collect Your Evidence – Many people experience health concerns that begin the very day the Smart Meter is installed. Usually this is not realized until the health concerns continue to get worse. If you have a Smart Meter installed on your home, keep a diary – time, day and health/emotional symptoms of concern. This is very compelling evidence in a court of law.

Install Effective EMF Radiation Protection in your home and office (both inside and outside to create a “layering-effect”). When out of the home, be aware of the fact that you are literally exposing yourself to a maze of EMF radiation. I highly suggest wearing a personal EMF protection device on your body.
Smart Meter & EMF Important Information
A subcommittee of the WHO held a meeting in Geneva on May 13, 2011 to discuss multiple chemical sensitivity and electrohypersensitivity (EHS) and placing these two illnesses on the WHO’s International Classification of Diseases (ICD). Electrohypersensitivity, refers to an adverse physiological reaction experienced by some individuals when they are exposed to electromagnetic fields and/or radiation. Symptoms include chronic pain, chronic fatigue,
difficulty sleeping, cognitive dysfunction, mood disorders, dizziness, nausea, tinnitus, skin disorders etc. EHS is not yet officially recognized in Canada although physicians and some medical centres are diagnosing and treating patients with this illness.
From the Citizens for Safe Technology’s section on Smart Meters and Grids: “…radio waves, transmitting 24/7, will effectively blanket homes and neighborhoods with radiation that could adversely affect not just humans but all living systems. In particular, these meters have the potential to affect not only electro-hypersensitive persons, but children and pregnant women, persons with medical conditions such as heart arrhythmia, those with compromised immune systems, and others who rely on medical and/or metal implants or equipment. In addition to health concerns, smart meters bring with them questions about fire and security hazards”.
The International Electromagnetic Field Alliance (IEMFA)—consisting of an international group of scientists—released the Seletun Statement (Norway) 2010, which states the following: The Scientific Panel recognizes that the body of evidence on EMF requires a new approach to protection of public health; the growth and development of the fetus, and of children; and argues for strong preventative actions. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (2012) recently requested a moratorium on smart meters in their position paper on “Electromagnetic and Radiofrequency Fields Effect on Human Health.” I would contend that the radiation from Wi-Fi in schools is as high, if not higher than the radiation generated by smart meters. If a moratorium on smart meters is requested that should also apply to deployment of Wi-Fi in schools.
The Austrian Medical Association, on March 3, 2012, released their guide for diagnosing and treating people who have electrosensitivity. The more we exposed populations to electrosmog the more people are going to become sensitive to this radiation. One of the main recommendations is the reduction of EMF exposure.
The Ontario English Catholic Teacher’s Association (OECTA) prepared a position paper February 2012 regarding the use of WiFi in the workplace. NOTICE OF NO CONSENT TO TRESPASS AND SURVEILLANCE, NOTICE OF LIABILITY
Dear (Energy Provider) and all agents, officers, employees, contractors and interested parties,
If you intend to install a “Smart Meter” or any activity monitoring device at the above address, you and all other parties are hereby deny consent for installation and use of all such devices on the above property. Installation and use of any activity monitoring device is hereby refused and prohibited. Informed consent is legally required for installation of any surveillance device and any device that will collect and transmit private and personal data to undisclosed and unauthorized parties for undisclosed and unauthorized purposes. Authorization for sharing of personal and private information may only be given by the originator and subject of that information. That authorization is hereby denied and refused with regard to the above property and all its occupants. “Smart Meters” violate the law and cause endangerment to residents by the following factors:
1. They individually identify electrical devices inside the home and record when they are operated causing invasion of privacy.
2. They monitor household activity and occupancy in violation of rights and domestic security.
3. They transmit wireless signals which may be intercepted by unauthorized and unknown parties. Those signals can be used to monitor behavior and occupancy and they can be used by criminals to aid criminal activity against the occupants.
4. Data about occupant’s daily habits and activities are collected, recorded and stored in permanent databases which are accessed by parties not authorized or invited to know and share that private data by those whose activities were recorded.
5. Those with access to the smart meter databases can review a permanent history of household activities complete with calendar and time-of-day metrics to gain a highly invasive and detailed view of the lives of the occupants.
6. Those databases may be shared with, or fall into the hands of criminals, blackmailers, corrupt law enforcement, private hackers of wireless transmissions, power company employees, and other unidentified parties who may act against the interests of the occupants under metered surveillance.
7. “Smart Meters” are, by definition, surveillance devices which violate Federal and State wiretapping laws by recording and storing databases of private and personal activities and behaviors without the consent or knowledge of those people who are monitored.
8. It is possible for example, with analysis of certain “Smart Meter” data, for unauthorized and distant parties to determine medical conditions, sexual activities, physical locations of persons within the home, vacancy patterns and personal information and habits of the occupants.
9. Your company has not adequately disclosed the particular recording and transmission capabilities of the smart meter, or the extent of the data that will be recorded, stored and shared, or the purposes to which the data will and will not be put.
10. Electromagnetic and Radio Frequency energy contamination from smart meters exceeds allowable safe and healthful limits for domestic environments as determined by the EPA and other scientific programs.
I forbid, refuse and deny consent of any installation and use of any monitoring, eavesdropping, and surveillance devices on my property, my place of residence and my place of occupancy. That applies to and includes “Smart Meters” and activity monitoring devices of any and all kinds. Any attempt to install any such device directed at me, other occupants, my property or residence will constitute trespass, stalking, wiretapping and unlawful surveillance and endangerment of health and safety, all prohibited and punishable by law through criminal and civil complaints. All persons, government agencies and private organizations responsible for installing or operating monitoring devices directed at or recording my activities, which I have not specifically authorized in writing, will be fully liable for any violations, intrusions, harm or negative consequences caused or made possible by those devices whether those negative consequences are justified by “law” or not..
This is legal notice. After this delivery the liabilities listed above may not be denied or avoided by parties named and implied in this notice. Civil Servant immunities and protections do not apply to the installation of smart meters due to the criminal violations they represent.
