CSI: NY 8x04: Officer Involved

Original Air Date: 14 October 2011

Storyline: A night out for some drinks among friends will turn out all but a friendly outing when Danny and his rookie cops find themselves caught up in a shooting.Trivia: This episode marks the second time that Danny is investigated by IA after season 1 episode "On the Job".

Danny is demoted to detective again in this episode (at his own request) after he promoted to Sergeant in episode "Exit Strategy".
The case the team works on this episode is number 2010/58821, which is exactly the same one the team worked on in the episode "Cavallino Rampante". Moreover, the tablet indicates that the procedure has been requested by D. Messer who is not part of the team and actually going under an IA investigation concerning the case at hand.
Dean Norris, who plays IAB Lt. Mitchell Adler, also appears in several episodes of CSI during season 11.
Michael Alperin, who plays Pete Miller, also appears in the CSI: Miami episode "Death Pool 100".
Jeff Leaf, who plays Travis Moss, also appears in the CSI: Miami episode "Stand Your Ground".

Review: I honestly don't know what the showrunners are doing here and why are they trying to take this series to the ground. I just wish they would stick with a story and let it develop, or forget about the personal element altogether and focus only on the procedural. First it was with Mac - they made him leave the crime lab only to bring him back one episode later. Now, they brought Danny back after only 3 episodes with him as a Sergeant (two, actually, since the season premiere was centered on 9/11).

Don't get me wrong: I'm not complaining about bringing him back, I've missed his "boom"s a lot. But if you're going to give a character the chance to develop, why not do it? Instead, they coupled him with this sexy rookie who gets him into trouble (thank God it wasn't the kind of trouble that would impact his marriage) only to cut short what would have possibly been an interesting growing up story. And it was a thoroughly advertised one, too, as the entire summer we've heard about Danny getting into trouble because of his young female partner. So you might get my disappointment.
Clearing Danny and finding out who shot agent Cooper and why did she shoot back was the focus of the episode, but the lab work was limited to Adam figuring out the fiber stuff and Mac saving the day by finding out that Copper was shot at by a different guy than the one she killed. Meh... The only entertaining scenes were Lindsay standing behind her husband and confronting agent Cooper, even after he spend the night at a bar with her instead of going home to his wife and child. But even that got old pretty quick. Also, who eels was surprised to see that Jo is an expert in fishing as well? Doesn't this woman do any girly things?
So, is this show dead already? If I'm going to give up one series from the already very long list I'm watching, this might be just it, though I'd feel sorry for doing so after seven seasons of watching it religiously.CSI: NY 8x03: Cavallino Rampante Back to Season 8
