Last year when business tycoon Mukesh Ambani celebrated the wedding occasion of his daughter Isha Ambani, it remained in the talks for several weeks. This year his son Akash Ambani wed-locked with Shloka Mehta at Jio World Centre and this was no less of a lavish affair where Mukesh Ambani left no stone unturned to turn the event into a grand extravaganza.
The event took place in March 2019 and guests from all over the country spurred in to bless the couple. Spotted were stars from the world of Bollywood, politics, business and even overseas.
Coming to cricket, we all know that the Ambanis own a team in the IPL – Mumbai Indians. Ahead of IPL 2019, the team reunited at Akash’s wedding. A good number of players, staff and coaches from the team were present to grace the occasion. Sachin to Zaheer to their life-partners was evidently seen in traditional attires posing for pictures and attending the media.
The famous cricketer and former Indian vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane also attended the wedding with his wife. Newly married Ajinkya looked grounded in a golden silk kurta with glass embroidery with his wife Radhika Dhopawakar who looked gorgeous in a grey pink flair lehenga.
Legendary name Sachin Tendulkar looked happy with wife Anjali who was also spotted amongst others. Where Sachin donned wine coloured kurta with embellishments and sported a medium length curly hair with pride, Anjali kept it sober in a traditional yellow Banarasi saree draped in a Gujarati style paired with a contrast blue elbow length sleeved blouse. Her splendid style was complemented with a diamond neckpiece, open hair and pink lip colour.
Ex-cricketer Zaheer Khan and Bollywood actress wife Sagarika Ghatge also attended the grand wedding of Akash and Shloka. Known as a power couple, Zaheer and Sagarika resorted to a traditional style as well. Zaheer was seen wearing a simple navy blue Nehru jacket with detailing around the collar and wife Sagarika looked outstanding in a beige and pink embroidered lehenga. She teamed her outfit with a diamond necklace, pearl bangles and gold colour clutch. Pink lip colour and wavy hair fairly completed her look.
Harbhajan Singh, a former cricketer who was also a part of the Mumbai Indian team last year, was seen posing with his family, wife Geeta Basra and daughter while entering the venue. Known to set trends in the field, he was no different in the occasion. An all pink bandhgala kurta with a pink floral jacket teamed with a pink turban justified his cheerfulness. Geeta looked ravishing in a purple lehenga with a golden border and a bold gold necklace. His daughter appeared to be a cute little angel in a light pink lehenga. Seems like having a close tie with the Ambanis, he was spotted earlier in their other wedding events as well.
Another duo spotted amongst the crowd were the Pandya Brothers – Hardik and Krunal. Being key members of the Mumbai Indians squad and being famous among the Bollywood biggies as well, they had to be on the invite list. Coming to their attires, Krunal wore a sober plush blue kurta while Hardik added intensity with a floral jacket and a pair of sunglasses!
On one hand, the Mumbai Indians cricketer Yuvraj Singh looked absolutely dapper in a powder pink outfit doubled up with a navy blue Nehru jacket teamed up with a pair of blue suede loafers to compliment the outfit! On the other hand, former Indian wicketkeeper and selector Kiran More was also present at the wedding with his wife. The duo kept it with Kiran wearing kurta with a Nehru jacket and wife wearing a simple and stunning silk saree.
Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene was a part of the guest list too. He came neatly in a simple suit and a gentle smile. Former Indian cricketer and Mumbai Indians coach, Robin Singh showed up with his wife. He was dressed well in a sharp floral sherwani while his wife stuck to a beautiful red lehenga.
Another one from the Mumbai Indians squad, Parthiv Patel looked decent and sweet in a sherwani. While Indian cricketers kept it all traditional, so did Shane Bond and Mitchel McClenaghan.
To our surprise, we also had Former New Zealand pacer and Mumbai Indians bowling coach Shane Bond attending the wedding in a calm light pink ethnic outfit. Done to the customization, the beautiful linen kurta was styled with an interesting single-buttoned jacket. Mitchel McClenaghan turned up with his stunning girlfriend Renee Brown. He looked all neat in a space blue sherwani, while his girlfriend looked absolutely phenomenal in a pastel pink shiny chanderi lehenga!
Akash and Shloka’s wedding garnered blessings from the top fraternities of the world. Everyone who appeared for the big event looked incredible and gave us more insights to know how to dress up for the next big festival or wedding that happens to be in our circle.
