Creamy and Yummy Kelly's of Cornwall Clotted Cream

By Etspeaksfromhome
Creamy and Yummy Kelly's of Cornwall Clotted CreamMy family and I always enjoy a scoop of ice cream as a dessert even through winter.  We have all got a sweet tooth in this family.  Today, I went to Tesco to buy a tub of Kelly's of Cornwall Clotted Cream & Honeycomb which costs £3.99.  Besides this flavour, they also sell with strawberry, blackcurrant, golden syrup, vanilla, chocolate, mint choc chip and raspberry in similar sized tubs.  They also sell a mini pots range in four different flavours.Usually I like to buy something that is safe and not too adventurous, like a chocolate or vanilla, knowing that my children will eat these.  Today however, I went for the honeycomb.  My first impression of the clotted cream was that it seemed very soft and thick.  When I was scooping it out, it felt a little spongy!  I would have never thought that clotted cream ice cream could be so spongy!  It is very easy to use a spoon to scoop out.  I served it with a chocolate sprinkle, chocolate finger and biscuit.  The ice cream is very soft and smooth.  Each mouthful is so creamy thick and sweet!  The flavor is rich and the honeycomb is quite sweet.  We all enjoyed it so much that we almost finish the whole tube!  This is our first time trying the clotted cream and we love it!  Kelly’s ice cream is made using rich Cornish clotted cream and Cornish whole milk.  It is the combination of Cornish clotted cream and Cornish whole milk that gives their ice cream the wonderfully smooth, velvety texture. There are so many ways to enjoy eating it by adding:
  • Hot sauces for ice cream: The simplest hot sauce to make is a melted chocolate sauce.  Melt dark chocolate and combine with cream to a make classic chocolate sauce.  Allow to cool and pour on the ice cream of your choice – Kelly’s Clotted Cream and Raspberry ice cream with hot dark chocolate sauce is particularly delectable.  For a sweeter sauce, melt chocolate bars such as Mars Bars or Fudge Bars instead of dark chocolate.  Pour over Kelly’s Clotted Cream ice cream.
  • Hot chocolate with a scoop of Kelly’s Clotted Cream ice cream on top.  Or, for grown-ups, a scoop of ice cream covered in a shot of espresso, to recreate the classic Italian dessert Affogato.
  • There are a selection of delicious recipes for hot desserts which go beautifully with ice cream, including toffee apples, rhubarb crumble, treacle tart & bread and butter pudding.
  • Classic baked Alaska: Defying all logic, this 70s favorite is due for a revival.  A sponge cake covered in ice cream, which in turn is covered in meringue.  And served with a hot sauce.  Try vanilla sponge cake covered in Kelly’s Clotted Cream and Golden Syrup ice cream, or a chocolate sponge covered in Kelly’s Clotted Cream and Raspberry ice cream.
Yum yum!  It has a great rich taste of clotted cream and you won't be disappointed.
