- use brightly coloured flowers dotted across your wedding tables to create a summery, cheerful wedding reception. Try sunflowers, poppies, gerberas and agapanthus – or anything you can find in your mum’s / grandma’s / aunty’s garden!
- Bunting brightens up the roof of a wedding marquee and adds color. Make bunting with fabric or paper – there are tutorials online to help you including a lovely easy one on Love My Dress blog by Lou from Whimsical Wonderland Weddings: http://www.lovemydress.net/blog/2011/05/diy-bride-tutorial-the-mini-flag-fabric-garland.html
- Andy’s wedding guest book and photo ‘booth’ idea is great: with chalk boards and a polaroid camera your guests can leave a fun message with a photo for you to read after the wedding day.
- Wedding cakes don’t have to be towers of white or cute-as-candy cupcake towers – be creative, how about a victoria sponge with a difference?
- Have fun making your own wedding signs. Particularly useful with an outdoor or marquee wedding, Andy and Tanya’s gave useful directions (‘guest book’, ‘bar’) and they added directions for ‘happiness’ and the ‘sky’ too!
- Make a feature of family wedding photographs however you can. It’s a lovely way to remember loved ones who are no longer around, and a great talking point for families.
