If you are asked how to cut down on wastage, be it of food, clothes, money, or even emotions, your ideal answer would be spend or consume less. It is the same story with our calories. Instead of fretting over accumulated calories and worrying about reducing it, why not take care in the initial stages and cut down on calories as a precautionary measure? This will not only mean a healthier you but it will also mean saving resources to a much extent.
It is said that animals never attack or hunt if they are full. That means they will kill for food only when they are hungry. They do not accumulate or store food. This is one of best eco conservation methods one will know of. And look at us, human beings. We waste so much food on a daily basis, we buy things we do not need, we waste so much electricity by our careless ways and not many of us are even aware of how our careless lifestyle puts so much pressure on natural resources.
Consume less and thus limit the intake of calories
Each one of us requires a specific amount of calories. It depends on our ideal weight and our height and of course, age. Thus you will be able to find what the ideal amount of calories is that you need on a daily basis. This will help you to consume only that much calories that is needed. Thus you will not consume any extra calories, however tempting. You will therefore be able to maintain your ideal weight as per your height and thus maintain the BMI, that is, the Body Mass Index.
If you know what the amount of calories you need, then you might even be able to limit the time you spend on exercises. If there no extra calories you are consuming, then you need to exercise only moderately. But if you are exercising more, then you may need more calories and you should take care to include more calories in your diet. This will also mean that you are only consuming food that is necessary and not wasting any.
Say no to unhealthy food habits
Unhealthy food habits are junk foods, extra sugar, fried foodstuffs, aerated drinks, etc. You say good bye to these food habits and you will be able to limit your calorie intake automatically. If you do not wish to skip your morning tea or coffee, don’t but ensure that you are not adding any sugar to it. Second, binge on fresh fruits and vegetables rather than consuming packaged fruit juices. Processed foods are the most unhealthy foods and do not even contain much nutrients.
Another way to ensure that your food intake is what is required, try to consume small meals rather than stuffing yourself at one time. Eating small meals ensure proper digestion and you are also not starving which often leads to an attack on fast food joints. Eat healthy, properly and limit your intake of junk food – these are the ideal ways to cut down on calories and save our resources.
