Men are seen as the toughest competition. Women are apologetic about their talents. It's total bullshit.
First of all I should say that the men that made it in to the finale where talented chefs - I'm not taking that from them. But their attitudes were "I am going to win this - HE is my toughest competition." The first guy eliminated was SHOCKED that he had lost. The guy left at the end was CERTAIN he would win.
The actual winner, Louise, is a food stylist. Her food looked impressive. Jacques Pepin was their mentor in the kitchen tonight and while douchebag dude chef Lee - who was certain he was going to win - was completely ignoring Pepin's advice - Louise was listening and implementing. Yeah. Probably a good idea since it's Jacques Pepin giving you advice. This dude was literally disagreeing with Pepin, which is totally stupid because he is a master chef and you should just sit down, shut up and take his direction.
Well, Louise's humility and willingness to take direction paid off - she won the whole damn thing. Lee was the bronze medalist, shall we say, and was nixed first. He was shocked. Everyone was shocked and apologetic. It was like Hey pompous dude who was certain victory was yours - we are SO SORRY. Meanwhile Louise, future winner of the whole damn thing is actually looking a little sad.
When she wins, they cut to a picture of Lee, who is clearly pissed - practically holding up a sign that says, "It should have be me, America!" Ew.
The whole thing just reminded me how important it is for us ladies to recognize our awesomeness - the same way men do. You deserved your win Louise. You were awesome.
