CONAN THE AVENGER #2 Review

Posted on the 24 May 2014 by Geekasms @geekasms

In Conan #2 we pick up right in the heat of battle that we left off in issue 1.  The fight between Conan and the wizard halted when a common enemy came forth.  Zombies.  Everyone’s enemy.

There was a bit of witchcraft and wizardry going on when a group of zombies showed up.  They did what they could to them and took off.  Conan is still in search of his gear that was stolen from him.  On the way out, there is a mysterious white ghostly looking creature guiding and helping Conan along the way. There are some more confrontations, more fighting and more zombies.  They show up at a place called the Necropolis. More fighting of the undead and Conan gets his gear back.  After all of this teamwork between the wizard and Conan, the wizard wants to stay as a team moving forward.  Conan wants some loot!  We find out who the ghostly figure is following Conan around and why.  Spirits like to hang on.  The last few pages of the book took a weird direction.  I wasn’t expecting all this witchcraft in this series but all I can say not to spoil the ending is that if you are what you eat, then you better lay off the bacon.

I will have to say that this book is a bit more entertaining than the first issue.  There was more action while keep the story moving.  It wasn’t stuck in one place the whole time.  The zombies threw me for a loop as it was something I didn’t expect to see in a Conan story.  I am not disliking it at all.  The last splash page has my whole thoughts on how this series would be like.  Never would I have imagined to see that is this book.  Conan The Avenger has pulled me in and now I need to keep on reading to see what direction the series goes on.
