Do you have a bunch of comics and want an app to easily see what you have? Comic Books Collector Variant Edition is the Android app you need. It looks good, has the info you need and well as sharing capabilities built right in.
I was on a mad hunt for a comic book app to organize my collection. I started out on the web using comicspriceguide.com. After I hit 50 books, they wanted a yearly subscription fee. I wasn’t down for that. The site was nice and gave the value along with the ability to buy/sell your books but it didn’t have a mobile app and was limited for the free version. My hunt continued when I came across a couple of Android apps. From a couple I tried, I liked the Comic Book Collector app the best. I started with the free version to see if I liked the UI and functionality. Since I wanted more from the app, I got the paid version to help the developer as well as gain some functionality. With the VE (Variant Edition) app, you gain the ability to add variant covers to your collection. This was big for me because I had a few titles with multiple covers. The whole app gets its information from Comic Vine. If you have ever searched their site, it is pretty good.
This app is very easy to use. It has the ability to back up your collection to an SD card (or internal memory) which comes in handy for a restore or if upgrading from the free version. With the click of the update button, the database will gather all the new books and covers. You can also export you collection’s info into a .csv file to use for whatever your heart desires. There is also the ability to share your new books with your social media followers directly from within the app. On top of all that, you can add custom tags, set values, bar codes, mark it as a want or owned and mark it as digital or print. More is in the works. I am Beta testing the next version of the app with the developer now. I am liking some of the improvements thus far.
