Renowned comedian Sikander Sanam passes away

Famous stage and television actor Sikander Sanam passed away at a private hospital in Karachi Monday evening.

He was suffering from the liver and stomach cancer since three months. His funeral prayer was offered after Esha prayer. Later he was laid to rest at the Korangi graveyard in presence of hundreds of people amid heart wrenching echoes of mournful cries and tears.

Born as Muhammad Sikandar in Karachi, Sanam started his career from the stage plays and parodies of Indian songs. Later he left singing and turned himself to solely stage, from where he received a lot of love and appreciation from public.

Soon after, he became most noticeable comics of stage. His evergreen stage dramas like Muqabla Hai Pyar Ka, Uta Chupa Ke Rakhna, Eid Mubark, and Bakra Nasboo Wala brought his great comedy flair on the mainstream.

Sikander Sanam also proved his metal comedy television plays. His play His plays like “Bohat Achay Bhai Bohat Achay” and “Direct Hawaldar” are still watched on DVDs and YouTube.

It was his love and dedication to his profession that made him famous not just within Pakistan but also across the border, where a stint with “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge” earned him the coveted title of “Comedy King.”

A parody of hit-flick Indian movie “Tere Naam” scaled him to bigger heights. Encouraged by the public response Sikander Sanam went on to make parodies of number of Indian movies, which include Munna Bhai MBBS 2, Sholay 2, and Ghajini among others.
