If I was to say “cloth nappies” my guess is a lot of you would go “ewwww”. At one point I may have agreed with you. Now however, with 2 under the age of 3 I am now I’m a cloth nappy loving mommy of 3 children.
Gone are the days of terry towels and safety pins, as are the big boiling pans to wash them in. It’s all new, all shiny stuff now. They are simple to use, simple to wash.
I thought I’d give cloth nappies a go after watching an advert for them online on a parenting group.
I became super excited when I saw all the pretty colours and patterns they came in (being a mommy to 3 girls I wanted something that looked pretty. A cloth nappy looks nothing like I thought it would.
After a week of deliberating which to choose I eventually brought 10 nappies complete with 10 microfiber inserts and 10 bamboo inserts and a wet bag to keep all those dirty nappies in before washing.
When the cloth nappy pack I had ordered arrived I was over the moon with how lovely they looked, how soft they were and how easy they seemed to use.
I quickly popped them all in the wash and dried them ready to use and WOW they are worth every penny.
Yes okay so having to separate the inserts from the liner doesn’t exactly fill me with joy when they’ve been pooped in but it’s worth it.
Not only am I now saving myself a small fortune I am also helping to do my bit for the environment.
I love my cloth nappies and so does my 2 year old
If I say to her “Can you get me a nappy?” she rushes to the cupboard where they’re kept and chooses a pretty cloth nappy and is happy to wear it.
She’s being potty trained at the moment and I’ve read quite a few reviews on how toddlers who wear cloth nappies make potty training easier and quicker due to them feeling the ‘wet’ sensation more and learning when they need to go quicker.
Here’s hoping that potty training can be as easy as others make it seem. As I have a new baby, to have my toddler potty training is difficult, but I would sure save me some extra money too.
My youngest is 9 weeks old at the moment and they are fabulous for her too, soft on her skin, keep leaks in and look cute all at the same time.
Why not give them a go?
There’s plenty of brands to choose from, ranging in style and price to suit all budgets.
Babies and toddlers can look cute and stylish and help mommy and daddy to save some pennies at the same time, win win I’d say.
