Multan Tigers defeated Sialkot Stallions by 42 runs
Causing the biggest upset of Faysal Bank T20 Cup, Multan Tigers thumped Sialkot Stallions by 42 runs at Bagh-e-Jinnah Ground, Lahore on Wednesday to record their second victory in the tournament.
Sialkot Stallions, who had won their previous three matches, crumbled in purist of 156-run target and desponded for 113-7.
Left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar broke the back of Stallions batting line by claiming four wickets for 15 runs.
Barring Nayyer Abbas (43 off 38) and skipper Shoaib Malik (24), no other Stallions batsman could manage to reach double-digits.
Slumping to 72-7 following a horrible batting collapse in top and middle-order, Stallions were in tatters of humiliating defeat but Abbas and Faisal Naved (13) shared 32-run stand for the eighth wicket to earn some respect for their side.
Earlier, opted to bat, Multan Tigers lost opener Zain Abbass (4) early but Sohaib Maqsood (38 off 41) and Gulraiz Sadaf (32 off 21) steadied the innings with the 54-run second-wicket stand.
The dismissal of Sadaf, who hit three fours and two sixes, sparked a comprehensive collapse in Multan batting order and by 12th over they were reeling at 5-81.
Naved Yasin (34 off 22) and Kashif Naved (20 off 16) started rebuilding the innings and plundered 54 runs off 36 balls to set up a competitive total for Multan.
For Stallions, Adeel claimed three while Naved-ul-Hasan picked up two wickets.
